WIP Wednesday {24}

This week really went quickly. Maybe it was the holiday. Or the constant rain? Either way, we have sunshine today - yay! eta - it was sunny when I wrote this yesterday. not looking so good for today. :(

Finished this week:
Pretty {little} Pouch Swap -  I think I want to do a separate post for this shortly.
Fabric organization -  I got some breathable drawers at Target and finally have a place to put the fabric I folded so nicely.

In Progress:
King Size Bird Bath - working on the sample blocks to send for a decision by my mom. The Kona bone definitely goes with the Aviary2 colors better, but my mom has her heart set on white. It will be interesting to see what she decides. They both look great though.

Supernova - I am in the middle of quilting this one. I keep doing it in shifts because I get so bored quilting straight lines. I think I need to break out of my mold and do some free motion on an upcoming project.
For the Supernova I've also settled on and cut out my binding. I hope the bold binding doesn't take away from the quilt. I debated a lot on what to bind this one with.

I've finally settled on my 3x6 Bee block and did the mock up in my colors. All the fabrics have been pulled for my partners, I just need to get piecing.
Pattern testing for a friend - in progress. No photos at this point!

And my biggest WIP - the bathroom! I'm proud to say I stripped all the wallpaper in that room in a little over 2 hrs.
There were 4 different wallpapers in that room and some came off a lot easier than others. There is one little section that hubby will have to do because I couldn't get a ladder close enough to reach it. But phase one is done! The walls look good enough to paint. Now for the patching of holes. Interesting side note - I think the wallpaper was original to the house (1969) because when I peeled it off the walls are just primed and there is writing on one about where the pieces should go.
Here's the view from the outside room (laundry) through the door. I'm deciding on my paint colors. The purple is out due to the laundry room being red! All the rest of my color swatches are gray. There are a LOT of grays to pick from in the store.
Pending my attention: (same as last week)
PMQG Charm Pack Challenge - I think I know what I'm doing for this, I just need to do it!
Boy burp cloths
Amy Butler Bag
curtains

Total WIP's this week:10

That binding looks great, I love the stripes. Can't wait to see it on. And I love your breathable drawers, I could really do with something like that. Your fabric looks so organised!

Ooh, I love the binding you picked, I think it will look awesome with your Supernova! I love those drawers, they look so pretty, all filled with fabric. Good for you with the wallpaper - good luck picking a gray, they all look great!

Seriously envying your fabric storage! Love it!

Nice storage for your fabric. Breathable drawers, very nice. Your fabric won't get dusty like mine on the shelves.

I really like the binding too! Also - my bedroom is grey. I. Love. It!! Congrats on getting phase one done! (I can't believe all the wallpaper was original! Too funny!)

The drawers look amazing!!!!!!!! Wonderful!

The white/bone debate is funny to me. I would just tell my mom that the bone is white. Does that make me a bad person? ;)

And the bee block is awesome!

Great week!

Oh my, I LOVE that binding you chose!! I hear ya on straight line quilting. I love the look of it, but am bored to tears when doing it. Your 3x6 block looks awesome!! Can I just say I'm drooling over all your perfectly folded fabric?? Love. I'm sure I already know this somewhere in the depths of my brain, but did you fold it around those comic book boards? Or just use a ruler to keep them the same?? Anyways, it looks fabulous!!

The new drawers are nice! I think I'm partial to the gray swatches just above the purple. I'm impressed with how quickly you took down that wallpaper! You've been busy this week, and you have lots of beautiful progress to show for it!

Congratulations on the wallpaper! That is a feat within itself (as evidenced by the previous owners of my house where they literally mudded over the wallpaper and painted the mud).

Great post. I love the 3x6 block!

P.S. "Coastal Villa" by Valspar (at Lowe's) is a fabulous grey!! It will look kind of taupe-y on the color swatch card but I cannot tell you how wonderful it looks on the walls (it's a warm grey, no blue undertones). I have it in two rooms with different lighting in each and I'm super happy with it.

Congrats on getting that wallpaper off!!! That must have been a lot of work! I love the stripe binding on the bias - it looks awesome. I can't wait to see how it looks on the quilt.

I'm so impressed about getting that wall paper off so quickly!!! It's really fun when the strips come right off in big chunks!! :)

I can't wait to see your finished supernova!!

Love those drawers! That looks so nice and organized. I'm excited to watch your bird bath quilt come together. I love the fabric and the pattern.

I like the breathable drawer idea. And, not that you need my opinion on bathroom color, but if it were me...coming from that red; I'd choose either of the center colors on the far right swatches or the center color on the far left grey swatch. I think the two in the middle of look too blue against that red....but that's just me. And remember it will dry a shade or two darker than it looks in the can! We just did a shade similar to the center far left in our kitchen and I love it! I'm thinking of using it in the bedrooms too.

I can't wait to see your finished Supernova! It looks awesome so far, and I think the binding will be great!

And scraping wallpaper. Oof! That is quite an accomplishment.

Oh, that binding looks fabulous! I love it! Can't wait to see your Supernova quilted. And your 3x6 bee block is beautiful.

GOOD JOB on the wallpaper, two hours is not bad at all. Thanks for linking up to WIP Wednesday. : )

Oh my goodness, I want those drawers so much now. You fabric looks so nice folded up neatly. And I love your bold stripes for binding, I bet that's going to look awesome.

Stripey binding = winning!

And I'm so glad that wallpaper came off relatively easily. It can be....challenging (ask me how I know >:( ). Definitely liking the grey.

p.s. how are you quilting your Supernova? I mean I know you are doing straight lines but...in the ditch? On either side of the X shapes? Inquiring copycat minds want to know!

I love the colors/patterns in that block. I'm really into yellows and oranges lately, especially with bright green.

I can't believe you did that whole bathroom that quickly. Dang woman!!!

Ick paint! Yea supernova! Love that pinwheel block!!

Those drawers are nice, I've never seen the breathable kind before. Perfect for fabric.

I LOVE the binding you've picked out for your Supernova quilt! That's going to be so much fun. I absolutely adore stripped binding.

I hope your mom chooses the bone, I think it'll look less stark than the white. But it is her quilt in the end, so I suppose you should do what she wants. ;)

love the pinwheel block. You are giving me some ideas! Nice work. BTW, your color scheme for your room matches one of my WIPS that I posted!

Love, love your fabric drawers & fabric of course! You have a lot on the go! Good luck! :)

I like the drawers. Those look very helpful!

Are those three stackables or all one unit?
Thanks!

Becky (My Fabric Obsession) said...

For the Anonymous poster - They are stackable units. One is two big drawers and the top one is a big drawer and a small drawer that I have FQ's in. I got them at Target. Hope that helps. :)

Did you use a board of some sort to get/keep the fabric folded so nicely?

Glad to hear that it didnt take long to do the wallpaper. I have 2 baths (tiny) a hallway and a kitchen to strip...yikes! :)

I just found you through Pinterest on a Sewing Room board. I love the idea of drawers. I have found that fabric displayed in shelves can fade on the edges. This is a great idea. I have pinned this to my Pinterest-Sewing board.
