Fun for me and fun for you! {Giveaway}

Sorry if you want to sing the Xfinity song after reading my title. If you don't know what I'm talking about, consider yourself lucky. It's an annoying jingle that I'll probably sing all day now! You're welcome.

I have finally hit my 100th post! And as promised I am going to do a little giveaway to thank you all for reading my little blog. BUT first, to make this little milestone even more exciting for me, I found out Lindsay of Linz Sews nominated me for the Stylish Blogger award! YAY! {by the way, how adorable is that header picture on her blog? talk about stylish blogging!}
I'm so honored that she picked me. :) As a recipient of the award, I need to do a few things:

A. Thank the person who nominated me and link to them. check
B. Share 7 things about myself. Okay, here goes:
  1. My husband and I met when he found my lost wallet in the work parking lot and returned it to me.
  2. I can play piano. As a high school kid I won lots of competitions. Sadly I quit and my skill level never progressed.
  3. I have a terrible sweet tooth. It is the downfall of all my weight loss efforts. I can't resist a piece of chocolate and was known to hide my Halloween candy as a child (ahem - never as an adult)
  4. I'm a brain surgery survivor. I had an AVM removed in 2004. It changed my whole outlook on life.
  5. I have a terrible memory. Nothing to do with number 4, I swear! I think that's why I'm such a list person. It's also what brought me to the hobbies of scrapbooking and blogging.
  6. I am the mother of a 2 1/2 year old girl Samantha.
  7. I am the middle child of 3 girls. And as a classic middle child always looking for attention.
C. Nominate 6 recently discovered bloggers. *since I have such a terrible memory, I can't remember when I started following all these bloggers but I think they are new to me. In my defense I have 204 that I'm following (gasp!) :
  1. Ali at A-squared(w)
  2. Ulrike at Crumbles of Creativity
  3. Jessica at Scrap N' Happy
  4. Michelle at City House Studio
  5. Sarah at Fairy Face Designs
  6. Bree at My Crafty Crap

And now on to what you've come here for... Interested in winning 2 charm packs of Central Park by Kate Spain (quilt not included)?

I'll be giving away these two charm packs of Central Park to one person. It's my favorite line out right now. Here's what you need to do. Leave me a comment and tell me what your favorite current or upcoming fabric line is. OR - tell me your favorite tutorial for using only one charm pack (I have some strays that I don't know what to do with).

I'm keeping this simple with one entry per person, you don't have to be a follower, but that would be great if you wanted to be one! The giveaway will be open until midnight eastern time on Friday, 4/15 **Giveaway is closed** and I will pick the winner randomly on Saturday. Good luck!
The winner is here.

Aw, Becky, thanks so much for nominating me! Plus also I NEED to win this giveaway, I spent all last night looking at Central Park charm packs trying to convince myself I didn't need them (but I do, I do!!) Its totally my favourite line right now. You should check out Kate Conklin's Charm Bracelet pattern too, its next on my list!

Firstly, wow, I didn't know much about you...and you're life is interesting! I'm very forgetful too...it's frustrating!

Favorite line out...I really like bliss...and one of these days I'll make something with my charm pack...I need to get motivated! =)

Thanks for a chance to win a lovely giveaway!

Wow, what a great giveaway!! I love getting to know you better :) I think my favorite line out right now is either Central Park or Aviary 2. It's a close tie for me. I really love the Pips, too, although I feel like I don't have many practical applications for them, cute as they are. As for a charm pack pattern, check out That Girl's quilt-along from late last year - it's a super easy pattern that works great for just one charm pack!

Megan said...

Isn't Kate Spain awesome? That's the only line of hers I haven't used to make something (yet). I'm really excited about the new Fig Tree line - Strawberry Fields. I'm so excited you asked about the charm pack question! I've been trying to use up some of my charm packs also, and I'm s-l-o-w-l-y posting quilt tutorials that only use one charm pack. My first one (Inverted 9-Patch) is probably still my favorite.

KD-Quilts said...

My favorite line is still innocent crush. But there ate many, many more that I love!!!! Central park, parisville, bazaar style and soul blossoms to name a few!

Laura Beech said...

Good Morning! Congrats! I found a pillow that was made out if just one charm pack-its goes in a desk chair for support. I love it! I blogger about it here: http://fleur-de-lou.blogspot.com/2011/02/i-need-your-help.html

Pretty simple with precious results. I have two or three more I am planning to make.

I think my favorites right now are Central Park or the new Joel Dewberry line. Thanks for the giveaway!

what a great giveaway, congrats on 100th post!! as for Halloween candy, my aunt and I would pick out our favorites and then swap the rest, it was fun being I was the only child.

What a nice giveaway!

I think my current favourite line is Sherbet Pips. I don't have a favourite upcoming one because I'm trying not to look. If I don't know it's coming, I can't want it. Can I? (Well, maybe I kinda sorta want Joel Dewberry's upcoming Heirloom line. And possibly probably also Tula Pink's Prince Charming.)

I love Aviary 2 (Joel Dewberry). That Girl That Quilt did a quilt along with just one charm pack. Very cute and quick to put together!

Michellekeenlyne said...

Right now I am crushing on Aviary 2 but I'm looking forward to Pick a Bunch (I think that is what it is called). Thanks for the giveaway. Congrats!

Happy coincidence, right now my favorite line is Central Park!

My favorite line at the moment is Under Construction as I have 2 young boys that love equipment & I'm planning out some quilts for them. But I really like the Central Park line for non-kid fabric. Thanks for an awesome giveaway!

And this would be . . . . said...

I don't have a favorite line at the moment...I have not really follwed any of them. However, I love making hexagons out of charm squares.

Hi there! I love Aviary 2, and it looks like Aneela Hoy is coming out with a new line "Little Apples" which looks really cute. She also has a great tutorial for a table runner using a charm pack (comfortstitching.typepad.co.uk is her blog).
Hope to see you at the next Guild Meeting (I've missed the last couple unfortunately!).

Nice giveaway Thanks! Wow fav fabrics are so hard to choose, there are so many great ones out there! At the moment I would have to say it is "OH MY".

Mama24Monkeys said...

Oh I love to get me hands on a couple central park charm packs...one of my favorite things for a charm pack is make 2.5 inch squares and either make hexies out of them or sew up with a solid just like you have done! (in fact if I won, I would be making the quilt they are sitting on)

Megan said...

Congrats on the 100th post Becky! Right now my favorite is Habitat by Jay McCarrol. Seriously loving it!

Jen said...

My fav fabric lines right now are from the Quilted Fish with Riley Blake - I just can't seem to get enough! Thanks for the chance to win some fantastic Kate Spain! Her stuff is GREAT too!

A.J. Dub. (Amy) said...

Here's a 2-fer, sort of. There are way too many gorgeous lines out right now, but Joel Dewberry's new ones are at the top of my list as i Sew Cherry from Lori Holt that is not available yet (sometime this month I hear). I am currently writing a tutorial for using one charm pack to make 2 Dresden plates (Assuming it actually works that is. ) :)

Rebecca said...

I'm creating some Summer dresses with some of Riley Blake's new lines ~ such fun and vibrant prints! I've made a quick skirt with a charm pack before ~ it turned out really cute!

Oh I adore Central Park and so can not wait to get my hands on some yardage of Sherbet Pips. That's the easy part. It's the fabric lines that are already out and that I didn't know existed that I find randomly in fabric stores when I find them.

I LOVE central park -- and I would LOVE to win this giveaway!

My favorite line out right now is Sunkissed! It is SO happy!! And my favorite one charm pack tutorial is the Pin wheel baby quilt on Moda bakeshop - easy and it's cute in any line!

Happy 100th post!! :)

I am really looking forward to Katie Spain's next christmas line flurry I believe, and I adore all of her lines so far!

Congratulations on your award! It was so interesting reading those facts about you!

I have been meaning to make something like this (http://sewcraftyjess.blogspot.com/2011/03/central-park-baby-quilt.html) for awhile. It's not a tutorial, but I just like the idea of the squares on the diagonal like that.

Kirsty said...

Kate Spain is awesome. I fell for her Fandango, hard. Central Park is my best friend's favourite - I'm just getting her interested in quilting (haha, the start of a slippery slope!). Thank you for the giveaway :-)

Bree said...

Thanks for including me! :)

I'm starting to think the memory thing must have something to do with having kids. I used to be able to remember everything, and now I can hardly remember anything, ever!

It's not super current, but my favorite has got to be Rainy Days & Mondays by Riley Blake. I know it's been out for a little while, but nothing I've seen lately has completely upstaged those umbrellas, although a lot of things come close, including Central Park!

love the sunrise star tutorial for using my scraps

Lovely fabric- Kate Spain is great!
I have been checking out some of the fabrics that will be coming out soon, and I really like "Feedsack 11" by Sara Morgan for Blue Hill fabrics. Saw it on the FQ shops blog.:)

Congratulations! Central park is my current favorite as well :) Can't wait to see suggestions for what to do with a single charm pack myself -- I've got a pack of punctuation that I can't decide what to do with...
By the way -- do you get Kate Spain's newsletter? She showed a sneak peek of her upcoming line yesterday and it looks AWESOME!

Andrew J said...

It's hard to pick just one line I'm excited about! I absolutely love Aviary 2 by Joel Dewberry, but the one I'm most excited about is Cut out & Keep by Heather Moore for Cloud9 Fabrics. I am so happy to see these awesome organic fabrics coming out and I love working with them. http://cloud9fabrics.com/cutoutandkeep.htm

Kaelin said...

I stinking love this line! I just finished a mini quilt using the only 3 prints I have, and I love it even more after seeing it all sewn up. Thanks for the giveaway! And the Fat Quarter Shop has a bunch of free Charm patterns here:

http://www.fatquartershop.com/freequiltpattern.asp

P.S. Don't feel too bad - I did the same thing with my piano skills! I played for 10 years and had gotten to be very good, but quit playing as soon as I left for college back in 2002. I miss it though and I'm currently begging my hubby for a piano :(

twelfthzodiac said...

My favourite line out right now is Aviary 2. I love all things Dewberry & Modern Meadow is still way up there on the list, like my number 2 fav! Central Park comes in third, I love it & sadly, don't have any yet.

I love Central Park, but I think aviary 2 (especially the yellow/gray) is my current favorite.

Congrats on the 100th post :D Sadly, I don't know what to do with just one charm pack, but my favorite current/upcoming line is Prince Charming by Tula Pink

Congratulations on 100 posts!! My fav upcoming line is Pooches and Pickups.

I don't use a tutorial for charm packs, but a coin quilt is easy, cut each charm in half and sew in columns with sashing or without. With sashing I can make a cot quilt.

Lobster Grrl said...

Congrats on your 100th post. I've been following you here, at MMM, and at Lee's Supernova quilt along. I'm in love with Central Park fabric right now. I believe it has a lot of potential for a pin wheel or friendship star block.
Keep blogging! lg

Congrats on your 100th post! My favorite line at the moment is Avery 2......I have been wanting to purchase some Central Park for a while now, so some charm packs would be great......I have two things I like to use charm packs for 1. making dresden blocks....you can get four petals with some left over out of each charm pack....enough for a mini quilt or table runner or four candle matts....2. pinwheels! I have a tutorial for the easiest pinwheels ever on my blog......you just sew two charms together 1/4 inch all the way around.....then you cut from edge to edge twice and you have perfect pinwheels.....

Congrats on the 100th post. I've got to start blogging some day and stop being a person who only reads them.

obviously I love the central park fabrics. Another recent favorite of mine is Kumari Garden by Dena Fishbein (in pink). I'm planning on updating my daughter's bedroom in some of these fabrics.

I'm a fan of the Alexander Henry pin-up fabrics. Mostly because several of them are just silly. That and the firefighters are kinda hot.

I am waiting for the "Countdown to Christmas" charm pack by Sweetwater to come out. This will become my first Christmas themed quilt.

Kate R said...

Congrats on 100 posts! I really love the Central Park line - such happy colors! I like Fandango as well - obviously I enjoy Kate Spain's stuff :) Plenty of others I "need" - it changes daily!

I am interested in seeing others' ideas about projects with just one charm pack. I always have trouble using them without supplementing with plenty of other fabric.
