Feeling lucky

It's been a bit of a rough summer around here. My husband was laid off a few months ago. And as I've mentioned, my son is a terrible sleeper. I haven't slept more than 4 straight hours since his birth. Those of you who have dealt with a bad sleeper know it makes you slightly crazy. I've been quilting to keep myself sane and have some fun stuff to show in a while.

But, I had a bit of luck last week and won 6 yards of Denyse Schmidt Chicopee from Pink Chalk Fabrics. It came directly from Free Spirit Fabrics, and they send me 1 yard cuts of 6 fabrics!

As someone who generally buys 1/2 yard or fat quarters, I'm feeling overwhelmed with a whole yard! I'm thinking maybe some bags? What do you do with large cuts? Or am I the only one who doesn't buy full yards?

A few weeks ago my friend Susanne of 3 Beans Studio came to visit with her camera. She took some absolutely gorgeous photos of my baby and a few with me.

I mean seriously gorgeous right!?  She's just relocated to the NY area. So if you want photos done, check out her site. She's amazing.

When she was here, she loved one of my quilts and I sold it to her cheaply as a thank you for the photography. I guess she felt it wasn't enough and this package of loveliness arrived on my doorstep from her!!!

Yup, that's Tula Pink's Birds and Bees! I totally thought I was going to miss out on this line because I'm on a fabric diet until hubby is back to work. I'm totally overwhelmed by her generosity. And feeling so lucky to have such a sweet friend. I definitely got the better end of the deal on this one. Amazing photos and gorgeous fabric. I'm a lucky girl.

How sweet! The photos are beautiful :) You will find a use for the yards of fabric, I always buy one yard as it is more economical and have quite a stash but it gets used in projects, usually ;)

Beautiful pictures! Congrats on the fabric too--nothing better than fabric gifts when you're trying not to spend!
I hope things quiet down for you soon and you can get some more sleep!

Isn't it nice when friends know just what you need at the moment? The pictures are beautiful. Good luck with some sleep and work for your husband. Have fun with the yardage. I'm a fat quarter girl myself although with prices like they are, sometimes 1/3 yards are a better deal.

I also buy tons fat quarters and half yards, I save my full yard purchases for realllly special stuff. I would be similarly overwhelmed with 6 full yards! any rooms need stripey curtains? Also, Good luck on your husbands job hunt!

Oooh, enjoy all that fabricy goodness! I only buy yards to make bags or the backs of quilts, so I'm a bit stumped there I'm afraid!

Sorry it's been a rough summer for you hang in there! But awesome fabrics you got there! Stash what you don't use. There is always a project down the line and you'll find that fabric will come in handy.

Sorry you're having a rough time! We went through sleeping issues with my oldest when she was about 4-9 months old. I had moments where I seriously thought I might lose my mind. Hang in there, and just remember, he WILL grow out of it!

Beautiful pictures by Susanne, she is soooo talented!

What great pictures of little man, so adorable, and the fabric shots are great too! LOL Don't feel to bad about your non-sleeper. My first was honestly up every 2-3 hours for the first 6 months, and then every 3-4 hours the rest of the year, it was horrible, but it does pass. My newest is a tad bit better, but is still getting up twice every night like usually 1 am and 3 am, so yeah, that blows! Hopefully he starts sleeping better soon!
