Nursery Sewing

As I'm entering my third trimester, I'm feeling pretty good. But definitely getting big and uncomfortable. So I'm trying to get the sewing for the baby done and out of the way.

The first thing I managed to finish were the wall hangings from the Richard Scarry Busytown Panel.

I took the simple route with these and just wrapped them around foam core and stapled them. They are nice and light and should be easy to hang! The nursery still needs to be painted, but I'll take some photos when they are up!

I also got a bunch of fat quarters of the Busytown fabrics so I decided to make a diaper stacker. I used this pattern from sewing.com. It's not really fat quarter friendly, but I pieced my FQ's together so it would work. It wasn't the best tutorial, there were a couple steps missing and there is totally no need to cut pattern pieces from interfacing. But if you know the basics of sewing it gets the job done. Here's my final result.

And a close up of those cute critters...

I still have some FQ's left to use up. Anyone have some cute ideas? I've got enough burp cloths, but I'm thinking baby some bibs??

Oh I love your wall hangings, they look great! Now I have a dumb question, but where do you hang your diaper stacker, and how many diapers does it hold, do you leave it on the hanger. I've seen them before, but never used one! Bibs are a great idea for the scraps or what about those small little lovey blankets with tags all around the edges for teething, they don't use much fabric!

Bibs are good. My daughter wants me to make big pillows for the floor in her baby's room. Now that she's almost walking, ALma spends a lot of time on the floor, and Kate wants to create a play/reading nook for her. I'm using leftover fabric from her quilt for the pillow top, and putting fleece/flurr on the back. There are 2 24" pillows, and 2 18" ones. Your fat quarters would be great for that.

Very cute, and I love Richard Scarry. Maybe I need to stock up on the remote off chance I ever have a baby? lol

Changing pad? Your wall hangings are cute! And, if you got tired of them, you could still make a book or quilt from them.
Great job on the diaper stacker.
