A little bit more France - a quilt finish {aka Blogger's Quilt Festival}

Those of you visiting me for the first time, welcome! Those who have been reading me for a while, I am finally revealing the quilt for my daughter. Just in time for Amy's Blogger's Quilt Festival.

This quilt is very special to me because it's going to be for my daughter's first big girl bed. Yeah, I'm probably crazy making a 2 year old a quilt.  But if you could see how much she loves, "mommy's quilts", you would understand. Every time I bring one out she rolls herself up in it or comes to grab an end and help me hold it up. So I knew she had to have one for her bed.

This quilt started with this table I got a Home Goods. When I found the matching end tables later I knew I wanted to do her room in a Parisian theme. When I found Monaluna's Vive La France line, I knew I had the fabrics I wanted. And then I saw Monica Solorio-Snow's Rectangle Reverie. It was exactly what I was looking for!! Everything came together so well.


If anyone has tips for photographing large quilts, I'd love to hear them! I struggle every time.


Here's a closeup of some of my favorite fabrics.

The amazing Margaret quilted this for me. She found a design that looks like a Fleur-de-lis that was perfect for this quilt. Here's a close up of her work.

As usual, I pieced my label into the backing.

I know this quilt will probably get some serious heavy use, but I'm happy with that. I know it will be well loved! In fact, she's already asking to set up her big girl bed so she can use it!

    So pretty! You know I'm a pink and green girl already, but I love the pattern too. It just goes to show that you can make something interesting and beautiful out of simple squares and rectangles.

    Oh Becky, its just beautiful! How gorgeous for a little girl's room, she will be so thrilled with it. Love the patterns,the fabrics, the quilting, everything! My DD is just gone 3 and totally wants her own quilt, and is jealous of the ones I do for other people, so I have no doubt your little lady understands exactly how special a quilt is, having seen you working on them.

    Awwww! It's oh-so-pretty, Becky! I love it!! As for photographing large quilts, my best advice is to find a big thing you can clip your quilt to - a fence or something - and use some big clips or clamps. Really tall friends come in handy for quilt photoshoots, too :)

    Becky, this is a fabulous quilt. What fun fabrics! When my DIL and I finished my 3-year-old grandson's quilt (which I seriously wish she would post on BQF!), he kept saying, "you made this just for ME???" Heart melting...

    Ooooh, I love quilts so when I saw you had a quilting blog I quickly popped on over hoping for some prettiness.

    And wow, that is honestly one of the most gorgeous quilts I've ever seen!! It is so so gorgeous!! I love the fabrics and how you laid them out and the stitching on the top is so pretty. You are so talented!

    It's beautiful! I bet your daughter loves it. It's so sophisticated and the two lines go together beautifully. Perfect choice for the quilting too! I think you did a good job photographing it. I also struggle with how to photograph my quilts.

    What a great quilt! I love the pattern and the fabrics are so cute! I think your pictures are nice--great close-ups! Since I can never find 2 people to hold up my big quilts, I always tack them up to the outside of my balcony and then go down below to shoot the picture so I can get a shot of the whole thing...they aren't spectacular, since the house is in the background, but it works.

    I love this and the story! What a lucky "big girl"! I love this quilt so much, I think it's the pattern I will make for a wedding quilt I want to make for this coming October.
