I have been finished this quilt for a while, but haven't been able to get it outside for photographs. The reason? It's another huge quilt!
I decided the spare bed in my son's room needed quilt so when he's ready to use the bed it's ready for him. Of course it's a queen size. I can't seem to go too long without making large bed quilts.
The pattern is "Sweet Talk" from Transparency Quilts by Ringle and Kerr. I LOVE this book and have earmarked almost every project in it to make. It's such a great resource for learning how to use colors to create illusions.
I've been wanting to do a shot cottons quilt for a while and this lent itself perfectly to using all shot cottons. It's a little hard to see that they are shot cottons in the photos, but they are! Even the "white" is actually Ice. They are all from the Kaffe collection (I get all mine here).
I had my fabulous quilter Margaret quilt this one for me and as usual she did fantastic. I wanted something dense because the shot cottons seem a little thinner than regular cotton and because it will be on a little boy bed!
I'm really so thrilled with how this one came out. It's all boy!
Quilt stats:
Quilt name: Argyle for Evan

Fabrics: Kaffe Fassett Shot Cottons
Finished size: 88"x103"
Finished: 7/1/13
You and Margaret did a fabulous job, and I bet those shot cottons shimmer IRL. I keep making ginormous quilts too o.O
ReplyDeleteYour son is one lucky kid to have this great quilt ready for him. The quilt is lovely.
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely. I'm still trying to get a little one done for a new granddaughter.
ReplyDeleteI love this!! I am making a queen sized quilt for my parents for Christmas. They want solids & now I want to use shot cottons. Brilliant! I hope you bring it to the next quilt guild meeting :)
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely gorgeous - I love the simplicity and the illusions created by the different colours you've used. I'm sure your son will love using it for a long time to come - it's definitely sophisticated enough to last him right through to adulthood.
ReplyDeleteI love it Becky! Now I wanna make one. Would be great for a baby too, in a smaller size lol.
ReplyDeleteWow! It's beautiful! I thought maybe you had quilted it with the tricks we picked up in Angela's class. Hope you're doing well and the kids are both adjusted to the new routine!
ReplyDeleteIt looks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteOh Becky! It is wonderful. Well done.
ReplyDeleteI've been looking for inspiration for a quilt for a guy. This looks perfect! I love the colors you chose!
