Hexagon Quilt finished

I had the privilege of being a quilter for the Bliss Group of do.Good Stitches in July. This means that in addition to stitching the usual couple blocks, I got to chose the pattern and colors and then assemble the blocks for the group. I chose to use the Hexagon Quilt-a-long from Jaybird Quilts. It's been on my to-do list for a long time and I know Julie's tutorials are always well written.

Our group benefits Wrap Them In Love and since we don't know who specifically will get our quilts I wanted to do a color scheme that could be good for a boy or a girl and even for an older child.

The only place that might have gotten a little girly was the binding. I had a fairly large stash of Parisville that worked perfect. Hopefully it's not too floral.

Here are some close ups of the quilting and some of the beautiful blocks.

I did a printed label for the back.

The back is pieced mostly with Kona Ash.

I had a few learning moments with this one. When I lined it up on the design wall, it looked wide enough, but once I sewed it together it became very narrow so I added the two borders to even it out a bit!

I'm really happy with how this turned out and I hope it will make some little girl or boy very happy too!

Quilt stats:
Size:  62"x52"
Pattern: Hexagon Quilt a long - Jaybird Quilts
Pieced: Members of Bliss, do. Good Stitches
Quilted: by me
Finished: 9/15/11
